The ancient Greeks believed that all life on the planet sprang from the sea, looking at the basis of life at the molecular level... and they hit the proverbial nail right on the head.

Thalassotherapy at Aegle Wellness Center
Thalassotherapy, from the Greek word for "sea," makes use of the components of this element of the earth for medical treatments including weight loss, detoxification, anti-ageing, and regeneration; these components include the seawater itself, mud and silt, algae, and seaweed, as well as coralline minerals.
A vast concentration of thalassotherapy clinics and spas are in Europe, with the most density in France. In the United States there is only one recognized thalassotherapy spa, Gurney's in Montauk, New York. Alphaland is proud to announce its pioneering venture into thalassotherapy in Asia as part of the many program offerings at Aegle Wellness Center at Balesin Island Club.

Our thalasso treatment facility includes saltwater whirlpools that use actual seawater. Since seawater is the closest element on earth to human blood, bathing in agitated seawater helps repair surface blemishes on the skin and wicks out toxins, even those that have accumulated over years of city living. Properly spaced and structured, regular treatments have been proven to reverse the ravages of ageing on skin. By varying the concentration of seawater salts in separate pools with different controlled currents, certain effects can be achieved in detoxification, metabolic therapy, and even supplementation by osmotic absorption.
These pool treatments are then enhanced by different substance wraps; caking the entire body with mud from the pelagic zone of the ocean, morselized or whole algae and seaweed, or sea salts. Periodic exposure of bare skin to hypertonic substances through wrapping is a medically proven method of removing toxins from the body while replacing lost minerals and elements directly into circulation.
The thalassotherapy pools will be located at the ground level of Aegle in Mykonos Village, both in the indoor circuit pool area and the open pool area facing the sea. Thalasso wraps will be performed in the body treatment cluster inside the facility.
